Since 2012, TDF has been making quality, accessible and interesting typefaces. TDF is a hand-picked international team of type designers who strive to provide all designers with a quality resource of curated typefaces that is constantly evolving.

We have licensed our typefaces to an array of customers, from students and studios all the way to major international clients such as Apple, Nike, Netflix, MTV, Virgin, Random House, Hugo Boss, GAP, EA Games, Pentagram, ESPN and the BBC to name a few.

All payments made on this website are managed by the global leading e-commerce payment service Stripe. All payments are PCI Level 1 compliant via a HTTPS connection. Payments are secure and protected. The Designers Foundry does not have access to any sensitive payment information. 

All payments are in USD, your bank may charge you an international transaction fee which we have no control over.

The Designers Foundry was founded in 2012 by Daniel McQueen. Our logo was designed by Wade Jeffree and our website was designed and built with QuiteType.

We are open for submission from all designers around the world. We strive to offer typefaces on The Designers Foundry that will add value and diversify to the collection of fonts we offer.

When you purchase a typeface, you’re actually purchasing a license to use the typeface. We offer three different licenses; Desktop, WebFont and App licenses. Broadcasting and gaming licenses are available, please email us.

Our licenses are designed to cover all common (and not so common) uses for typefaces. That being said, if for some reason your intended use is not covered by our licenses simply email us and we can arrange a custom license.

Just like other software, such as the Adobe Creative Suite, licenses are purchased according to how many people will be using the software.

All our licenses are a one-time payment and never expire.

The Desktop License is by far our most commonly purchased license. This is the license you'll need to design branding, logos, publications, posters, t-shirts etc. You can also design static images (jpg, png, gif) for use online with the desktop license – you do not need a Webfont license for this.

The Desktop license is priced according to the number of users that will be using the typeface. Discounts are applied when licensing for more than 2 users. The number of users purchased must equal or exceed your requirements. A user cannot be shared between multiple people or devices.

If you're making an application for mobile devices (Apple iOS & Android for example) you will need to purchase this license. Please select your license according to the number of apps you plan to produce. The same app tile on different opperating systems can use the same license. Sequels or updates do not need an additonal license if the title of the App does not change. 

If you're in need of a license for more than 100 users or more than 500K monthly website views we can create you a custom enterprise scale license to suit all of your needs.

At this scale of licensing the cost per user / view dramatically decreases so if you would like a quote please email us the name of the typefaces you're interested in, the number of users / website views you require and we will get back to you within a few hours with options and pricing.

Our WebFont licenses are based upon the number of views you expect your website to have on average within a monthly period. The scaled options are designed to suit all of our customers from students to global corporations. 

Our WebFont license files include WOFF, WOFF2 and EOT and are hinted for web usage. A basic CSS file is included with your license.

After payment is complete, download the typeface files to your computer and locate the files. Files will most likely be in your "Downloads" folder.

After the font has been downloaded to your computer, double-click on the font file. The file will open in a new window. Click “install” and the font will automatically install.

After the typeface files have downloaded to your computer, open Font Book, select all the files and drag them from your finder window into Font Book. You can also add your typeface by clicking "File" in the menu bar while in Font Book and then "Add Fonts".
